Game was a lot of fun when linked with Play Pass. They made a decision at the end of the year to not support it. There was a notification stating that purchases were not going to be affected, which seems to be incorrect (in my case, I lost everything and now would have to buy everything again) and I have sent emails and submitted a ticket with no responses so will be uninstalling because the rate of accruing anything just to play is annoying.

This game is great and I love Risk. I do like that there are two rotating free maps per week. I do wish there was an option to build your maps or game modes without real purchases. I'm never going to spend money on the app, and I'm not going to play every day for a year to save enough gems for one single purchase. So it's fine for a little while then I'll get bored and uninstall. Gem rewards should be directly related to play time or wins. That would incentivize you to play more.

Obnoxious ads, utterly infested. 100 premium currency for the cheapest things in the shop, everything is locked behind it. There's trickle feed of "2 free currency" a day behind an ad wall that just WILL. NOT. STOP. 5 ads in a row, still won't return to the game or pay the offered "free currency", instigated new ads upon relaunching the game, and everywhere in between. I'll go dust off the actual board game and set that up to play. It's easier, less intrusive, and it's an identical experience.
